Today we woke up to wonderful bright, blue skies! It was pretty chilly in the morning but it was OK because it was not raining as it had the past few days. We got breakfast at the normal time of 8 before heading out for a ride at 10. We rode with the elite women. We rode along the beautiful coast while doing our openers. Small efforts to get our legs ready for the next days race. After doing the efforts we kept the ride short getting back to the hotel within 90 minutes. When we got back it was straight off to lunch before getting back and turning on the TV to watch the junior Women's race! The US girls were doing pretty well until a crash on the finishing straight of the first lap took two of them out! One, Addy made it back into the field but, Grace was not so lucky. At the world championships there is no caravan of team cars behind the peloton for service so when you flat or crash only neutral helps you, so it can sometimes be very hard to get back on. The race finished with Addy and Alexis (US Junior women) both coming in top 50! Congrats girls! Next was the U23 race. It started at 1 and was 168 km's long. As I was watching it my parents arrived! It was wonderful to see them after almost 2 months away from home! I gave them some presents and we got to hang out for about 2 hours before I had to get a massage and take a power nap.
Around 6, we had a team meeting about the plans for the race. We talked over strategy, what we wanted to do, what other teams might do. We talked about who was dangerous on what terrain. After the meeting it was off to dinner! Dinner was a wonderful, pasta and chicken, and fish and salad and much much more! Now its time for bed! A very big day tomorrow! I am so excited yet anxious! Im so ready! Lets see if I can get that big result! Thank you so much to all of the people who have been so supportive! Stay tuned for results of tomorrows race!
