For the past week (since Friday the 14th) I have been running at and going to the Running Institute Rehabilitation Center. I jumped into running at a high pace too quickly and irritated my knees and ankles. I was recommended to this store on Jackson rd. in Ann Arbor by my cross country coach. There are a lot of little things we are doing to get me back in shape and running competitively at states but the biggest advantage that I am getting while being there would have to be the Alter G. The Alter G is a treadmill with anti gravity qualities that was created by an ex astronaut. You can set yourself to run at a certain percent of your body weight, allowing you to get your legs running without the pounding. It has helped a lot!
I have done two hard workouts on it as well as many other easier runs. It is crazy because for example I have been running at 60% of my body weight so I can run at a really high mi per /min pace, so I ran at a 4:10 pace... your legs are moving so so fast! I hate running on treadmills though and this expensive machine with a price tag of 75,000 dollars is no different. Its so hot, and boring! It might be worse then the trainer on the bike! Well its all for the better of my running so ill stick to it!
Well Regionals is next weekend! The plan is to run JV there, get on varsity and run states well! Lets hope it all works out! The team is running fast and only getting faster. We have a really good chance of winning regionals and well states has always been our strong point ;). 1 more week on the Alter G! Wish me luck! Ill keep you guys posted!
